How Was Your Class?

As we were leaving church yesterday, Ethan asked me how my class was. I told him it was great and then he asked if I got to cut and glue too. I guess at 3 1/2 cutting and gluing your own church artwork constitutes a terrific Sunday! He couldn't understand that my class was still good even if I didn't get to use scissors and a glue stick.

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day this year, my mom came to town. We went to basketball games in the morning and then headed out for Preston to pick up Sunnie and Brandon and then on to Hardware Ranch to look at the elk. It was a cold and snowy day but full of fun even though in the pictures the boys look like they are having anything but fun! The only thing that would have made it better was to have Gary there but he was hard at work in Florida ....or was he in Louisiana or Mississippi or Alabama? It's hard to keep up with what state he is in this year they have been travelling around so much!
Sunnie and Dylan had a great time. For some reason I could never get Sunnie, Brandon and Dylan to look at the camera at the same time. Really, Brandon was with us!

After the sleigh ride we all had to pose for a cold picture. Dylan can't wait to be big enough to actually move around in his snow clothes by himself.

Grandma and Dylan heading back to the car. He made it about ten more feet before he convinced her to carry him!

Flowers

When I picked Ethan up from preschool today, he had a bouquet of paper heart flowers in his cubby to bring home. The first thought I had was that this would be the sweetest bouquet I had ever received but not wanting to jump right into the thank yous, I told him how great they were. His response?

"These are for Dad."

I explained that Gary wouldn't be back for two more weeks but he was undeterred. They were for Gary. Not for me. Not for Grandma that is coming to town tomorrow. Not for his Emma.

We took a picture and emailed Gary and then he has the bouquet in safe keeping until he comes home.

Wires

Tom has had his braces for a couple of weeks now and I beginning to wonder what we've gotten ourselves into. The orthodontist warned me that the wires may come out of the brackets on the back teeth but we can easily just put them back in place or come in and they will do it for us. The problem is that they've come out half a dozen times at least these last two weeks and they are not as easy as you would think to pop back in. He just called me again from school to see if I could come in and fix his wires. Grrrrr......

Usually they pop out on a weekend so no one is in the office. Today I had had enough and decided to call and get him in. The problem this time is that it must be during their lunch hour and NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE! I'll give it a few more minutes and then I think I'll just have to check him out and do a walk in repair. I'm going to ask them why they don't have an answering machine too. Maybe it's on the fritz or they forgot to turn it on but man it's getting frustrating! Use the money I just paid you to buy a reliable answering machine or pay for a call service.

Valentines Day Class Handout

Don't you just love these "i-pod" Valentine's Day treats? I got the pattern from Family Fun and now we just need to make 70 more. They actually are made out of a box of mini-nerds and m&m's for the ear buds.

If you want to print out the pattern, it's on Familyfun.com. Got to love it.

Sick Day

This picture says it all. Pajamas after 9:00 a.m. on a school day. A bottle of Sprite in every one's hand. The mostly pale faces. The stomach flu has once again struck our house. Second time in two weeks. YUCK!

It started two days ago with Ethan complaining his stomach hurt at bedtime. With his milk allergy, he complains a lot that his stomach hurt. Being three, he also seems to have "attacks" just as it's time to turn off the lights and say goodnight. I didn't think much of it until he found me downstairs with his brothers to tell me he was throwing up. Sure enough. Yesterday morning he seemed fine again and was excited to go to preschool so I sent him. The stomach problems started up again at dinner.

Tom was happy and healthy until about 4:00 yesterday afternoon when he started complaining that his stomach hurt. I asked him if he was too sick to go to basketball practice and he assured me that he wasn't. Feeling a bit queasy myself, I decided to pick up dinner at Chili's instead of making something. When I got home, everyone seemed to be just laying around. Dylan and Logan were the only ones who actually ate their dinner and Tom started throwing up shortly after I brought it home. Needless to say, I lost my appetite.

One new carpet cleaner later, the floors are about clean and everyone seems to be holding things down for the moment. Dylan has stopped eating much though and is being very clingy which isn't a great sign. Logan - the rock of health so far in our family - woke up this morning to tell me his stomach hurt too. I'm not sure if it really does or if he just didn't want to go to school if Tom got to stay home. Tom, on the other hand, is DEVASTATED that his perfect attendance is ruined. He wanted to go, sick or not, just to keep it.

Wish us luck that we make it through the day and hopefully everyone can go to school tomorrow. From the picture, it looks like they are still healthy enough to be mischievous at least.

A New Battery

My car has been acting a bit sluggish for a little while and yesterday I was wondering if it would really start as we were trying to leave for church. It did, but I wondered if it would start again after church. This morning it was the same thing. So, I called Gary and he gave me some suggestions.

I ended up at Les Schwab to get my battery checked and, sure enough, it was bad. I've never had to replace a battery before and I didn't realize that there were different choices and this thing called cold cranking amps and sizes and warranties and.....Thank goodness Brandon Nate works there. He was in our ward before they split the last time and is the nicest guy. I told him Gary was gone and asked if he could help me figure it all out. It's nice to have someone you trust take care of those things when your husband can't be there. So, $115 later, my car is once again in tip-top shape and we can hit the road whenever we want to. If it isn't one thing, it's another but it sure does keep life interesting!
